      ABOUT BUILD

BUILD Mission Statement

2005 – 2006 Officers: Terri Scholting, President; Dee Arias, Secretary; John Plucknett, Treasurer

B.U.I.L.D. stands for "Businesses United In Louisville's Development" is an organization of the business owners of Louisville, NE. This group was originally founded by Lynn Berner-Smith as an outgrowth of the renovation to Main Street in summer of 2000.

The goal and purpose of this group is the betterment of our Business District and building a better community for our families, friends and visitors. We think this is a GREAT community and we want to promote it and nourish it in any way we can.

This group is the longest running association of business people this community has had in recent history. We are proud of that fact and are dedicated to this community and will continue to work for its well being.

The beautiful new "Welcome To Louisville" sign at the north end of Main Street is there because of the efforts of this group. Also, the lighting of the buildings on Main Street, the seasonal decorative flags that we all watch as the seasons change, the new maps of the city that are located at various businesses for the publics use, the Louisville Daz Parade is sponsored and organized by B.U.IL.D., and we again have a Doctor in our community because of the efforts by some of our members. Also, these business people sponsor many activities in the community through the school, Boy and Girl Scouts, and other organizations.

Most recently some of these Businesspersons have agreed to sponsorship with the Louisville Lions "L Zone". These sponsorships include helping defray the printing cost of the T-Shirts the youth wear and sponsoring a sporting event with "freebies and give-aways" at the event they sponsor. Kathy Pankonin reports she has sold all the T-Shirts to the youth and that the Businesspersons have been very supportive of this endeavor.

Many new projects are being considered and planned too. A Walking Trail has been discussed and although we have ran into some obstacles we still hope to see that happen in the future. If you have an idea for a project please feel free to discuss it with a member or visit one of our meetings. We meet the first Tuesday morning of each month at the Louisville Senior Center at 7:30 A.m.
